ern Family Health Care
(KFHC) is very happy to
announce new bene ts for
our Medi-Cal members ages 21 and
older. E ective July 1, 2012, KFHC
restored some of the adult Medi-
Cal bene ts removed from Medi-
Cal coverage three years ago. When
medically necessary, the following
bene ts will be covered by KFHC:
Audiology (hearing) services
provided by an audiologist.
Incontinence creams and
washes.
Speech therapy services provided
by speech therapists.
To receive these bene ts, you
must receive prior authorization
from a participating KFHC
provider.
In addition to these bene ts,
KFHC covers eyeglasses (frames
and lenses) for adult Medi-Cal
members. Eyeglasses do not require
Community-Based
Adult Services
Effective Oct. 1, 2012, you may qualify
for Community-Based Adult Ser vices
(CBAS) if you have health problems
that make it hard for you to take care
of yourself and you need extra help. To
receive this benefit, you must receive
prior authorization from a par ticipating
Kern Family Health Care (KFHC)
provider. If you qualify to get CBAS,
KFHC will send you to the center that
best meets your needs.
At the CBAS center you can get
these ser vices:
Skilled nursing care.
Social ser vices.
Meals.
Physical,
speech or occupational therapy.
Training and suppor t for your family
or caregiver.
You may qualify for CBAS if:
You used to get these ser vices from
an adult day health care center.
Your primary care doctor refers you
for CBAS.
You are referred for CBAS by a
hospital, skilled nursing facility or
community agency.
