They can share info about family planning, such as: y y Getting ready for pregnancy. y y Pregnancy testing and counseling. y y Exams and screenings. y y How to prevent sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Learning about these topics can help you make better choices. …I think I am pregnant! If you are sexually active, there’s always a chance of getting pregnant! Get tested! Home pregnancy tests are a good way to find out. If you are pregnant: y y Write down the date of your last period. y y Schedule a visit with your PCP or OB-GYN. Mental health and pregnancy Becoming pregnant changes a lot of things. Some changes happen within your body. Some changes happen within your mind. The most common mental health conditions during and after pregnancy are depression and anxiety. It’s OK to feel sad every now and then when you are pregnant. You may feel stressed or overwhelmed. But if your symptoms last more than two weeks, talk to your doctor. These feelings can also happen after your baby is born. Your doctor and nurse can help you manage these conditions. Some talk therapy can help relieve some symptoms. In some cases you may have to stop, start or change medications.
