need to quit some old habits—and
start some new ones.
A change for life
Your heart is at risk. at means
it’s time to put healthy habits at the
top of your list:
Stop smoking.

Get active.
Exercise can help
control blood pressure and
weight. Ask your provider what’s

Eat well.
Talk to your provider
about what foods are best for heart
health.
A change in your care
You may need to take medicine.
Your provider may ask you to take
drugs that:
Lower cholesterol or blood
pressure.
Relieve chest pain.
Reduce strain on your heart.
Be sure you know what each
medicine is for and how to take it.
When to get help
You can live a normal life after a
heart attack.
Still, having had one heart attack
puts you at risk for another.
Go over the signs of a heart
attack with your provider. Tell your
family to call 911 right away if they
think you may be having one.

your child a new member ID card
